All photographs are traditional silver/gelatin prints, hand processed in a traditional wet darkroom, using carefully controlled procedures for maximum image permanence. All prints are either sepia or selenium toned and Sistan treated. All mount and mat boards are acid free. A label describing the photo, it’s location, historical information (if available), the date the picture was taken, and the negative number is attached to the back of the mounted print.
“Fine Art” Prints.
Fiber base prints, dry mounted onto a high quality rag board.
Generously proportioned double window mat, signed and dated.
Some typical configurations ("Landscape" configurations vary widely):
8x10” enlarged print, 14x18” double mat.
8x20” contact print, 16x32” double mat.
11x14” enlarged print, 18x22” double mat.
16x20” enlarged print, 22x28” double mat.
20x24” enlarged print, 30x38” double mat.
All photographs are “Open Edition”. They are printed to order, dated and signed. I do not produce limited edition prints.
With the possible exception of photography using hand coated emulsions, I consider Limited Edition Photography to be a silly business which is being promoted as a Serious Business in an attempt to convince you that the photo belongs in some Pantheon of Immortal Images (which means that you've got to pay a Lot More for it).
I avoid...
The marketing gimmick of claiming an edition of xx prints, then printing only a few prints initially,
-- and withholding final printing until actual orders are received.
Perpetrating fraud by publicly promising an edition of xx prints,
-- then failing to complete the edition because future sales did not materialize as expected.
"Playing games" by establishing an edition according to image size, matting configuration,
-- or any other variable which could be used as an rational to justify a New Edition.
I've been around this world a time or two, taken a picture now and then, and sold more than a few prints over the years. I intend to spend these last years of my life revisiting my ever expanding archive of negatives; to print some of it's unseen gems, and to create a portfolio of the "Wanderings, and Things Seen by Reinhold and Judy Schable". And, if you'd like to own a print or two I'd be pleased to make one or two for you as well...
I'll even autograph them for you.
